Version 2.20
Welcome to VITRON's PopIt Invoice System, a powerful, comprehensive,
yet easy-to-use tool for keeping track of your business invoices and
payments. This is a shareware product. It is not freeware or in the
public domain. All software and documentation are copyrighted by
VITRON Management Consulting, Inc.
The system is written entirely in CLIPPER, thereby using standard
X-BASE file formats.
┌───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ The proper functionality of the system depends highly on two sets of │
│ files that are included: │
│ │
│ the .SYS files and the UTIL*.* files │
│ │
│ PLEASE, do NOT attempt to modify these files in any way, otherwise │
│ you run the potential risk of precluding successfuly system opera- │
│ tion, assumming the system continues to operate at all. Make sure │
│ you maintain a backup of the original files at all times! Any evi- │
│ dence of your unauthorized modifications to these files may term- │
│ inate your license to use the system. Authorization to modify these │
│ files is obtained from VITRON in writting only! │
│ │
│ The system diskette contains an automated installation procedure. │
│ We would like to recommend that you use it to install your system │
│ properly. (Please refer to INSTALL.DOC for installation instruc- │
│ tions and minimum system requirements.) │
└───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
The system diskette includes a registration form/invoice for you to
register your copy. If you are pleased with the system and continue
to use it, please register it. Some of the benefits of registration
include:
(1) You will receive the most current version of the
system and a printed manual;
(2) You will receive notifications of all system updates;
(3) You will be entitled to free telephone support
We will consider all requests for enhancements and modifications
for future versions from registered users, and we encourage you
to let us know what you think and what you want.
IF YOU ARE USING A PREVIOUS UNREGISTERED VERSION OF THE SYSTEM, YOU
MUST DELETE ALL OF THE FILES IN THE DIRECTORY BEFORE INSTALLING THIS
REVISED VERSION! OTHERWISE, INSTALL MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY.

┌────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ The system includes two OPTIONAL DOS ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES. The │
│ first variable is used to set the system's date format. If not │
│ used, the format defaults to AMERICAN, i.e., mm/dd/yy for all │
│ dates. If used, you can set the date format based on the follow-│
│ ing. You set the format by entering the following in DOS. │
│ │
│ SET CLIP_DATE=xxxxxxxx where xxxxxxxx is one of the following:│
│-----------+ │
│ Entries |-> ANSI (format is yy.mm.dd) │
│ must be |-> BRITISH (format is dd/mm/yy) │
│ in UPPER |-> FRENCH (format is dd/mm/yy) │
│ CASE |-> GERMAN (format is dd.mm.yy) │
│ |-> ITALIAN (format is dd-mm-yy) │
│-----------+ │
│ E.G., for FRENCH date format, type: SET CLIP_DATE=FRENCH │
│ │
│ The system also includes the DOS environment variable: │
│ │
│ SET CLIP_TELE=NOT-US <--must be in UPPER CASE │
│ │
│ This variable sets the phone number dislay for the system. Use │
│ it ONLY IF your phone number format is DIFFERENT from the U.S./ │
│ Canadian format of (nnn) nnn-nnnn. The variable sets the format │
│ to (###)###########, which is useful for a number like that used│
│ in Europe, namely, (033)65 32 19 23. │
│ │
│ If you're going to use one or both of these variables, you MUST │
│ set them in DOS (or your AUTOEXEC.BAT file) BEFORE you start the│
│ system each time! │

│ FOR CANADIAN USERS │
│ │
│ The system includes the ability to include both GSTax and PSTax. │
│ You can enter the two tax percentages in the system's Control File. │
│ In addition, you can indicate whether or not a particular customer │
│ is PSTax-Exempt -- which is done by setting the appropriate │
│ indicators in the customer's record in the Customer File. │
│ │
│ If you do not indicate whether or not a customer is PSTax-Exempt in │
│ the Customer File, the system will ask you at the time the invoice │
│ is generated, provided you have set GST and PST in the Control File.│
│ │
│ The appropriate Customer File screen information will include PSTax │
│ information only if you have posted the two taxes in the Control │
│ File. │
